Car Check

Today I went to the Citroen Service to have the car checked. 2 weeks ago the car wouldn't start so the guys came and said to Ekin that they needed to update the car's software. So they took the car, updated the software and said that everything was fine. I asked the guy what was the real reason the car wouldn't start and the answer was 'the software has expired'. ARE YOU KIDDING ME ?
So That's why I went to Citroen today to get a real explanation. The car is new and recently came out of a 'car test'. Anyway the guy said that something went wrong technically with the injection system and that the way to repair was to update the injection software. Electronic in cars is cool but can be annoying too.
While I was waiting, I took pictures of the view in front of the dealership.

This guy built his house right there with a little garden, how cool. Of course it's illegal.






Before arriving home I took this picture of our neighborhood. Our house is far behind the tower on the right, by the little blue buildings.

Debt

While passing by this grocery store, I notice this note on his front door so I went and had a look. It had written down the names of the people who owed him money, their address and the amount due. Some of them are not small amount.












The 1st one owes 640 Turkish Liras (YTL) since september 2006 ($ 542).
#2 owes 70 YTL ($ 60) since 6 months but apparently paid.
#5 owes 50 YTL ($ 42) since 2 years !!
#6 says : "note : watch us, there is more coming"
#7 says : "The list of the shameless"
#8 says : "I fed the people that the government couldn't feed, I'm the victim"

You can't tell on the picture but it's actually snowing. Well very little of course but it is.

Börek

Ekin made some börek (boerek) with my help of course and they were very good and it didn't take much time.

Fry one diced onion in a pan, then add some spinach and let cook. We did not use meat.
in a bowl mix 2 eggs, 1 small glass of milk, a table spoon of olive oil and some parsley. in another recipient, smash some feta like cheese.
Then proceed as seen.
We cut our yufka in a triangle shape so they would be smaller, do as you wish. spread a bit of the egg mix on one layer of dough.

and roll it in spiral like a cinnamon roll





Cook in the oven for 20 minutes

Well, they were expecting a snow storm today and I waited for it all day long.

03:59 p.m. : That's it ? That's the big storm ? it lasted 10 minutes !

Stencils Searching Day

Today, as I went to feed my parents' cat (they're in Paris for those who wonder), I wandered around in the Cihangir district again to find some new stencils.









I really like this one, it was (apparently) drawn using a single line. It reminded me of the line skulls that my friend Noah did for his skulladay project.

I'm always amazed that the water pipes and taps are in the open like that. If I shut this tap, the guy won't have anymore water. That's risky.

Okan. Well it's actually tomorrow but nooo, you decided to celebrate it today. You fool. Don't you know that it's considered bad luck to celebrate your birthday in advance (says my mom).

The Messenger is out

The movie 'Ulak' (The Messenger) I worked on last summer as a camera assistant came out in theaters today.

Movie Premiere

Tonight we went to see the screening of the Movie 'Ulak' (the messenger), the movie I worked on last summer as a camera assistant. We watched it with the whole crew. It's an awesome movie. You can go visit the web page here and watch two trailers here.

Pasta Arbella 2.0

Today again I worked for the Arbella cooking show. We first started to shoot at 360, a nice trendy restaurant/bar/night club in Taksim with a 360° view over Istanbul. One of its owner (Mike) is also the cook who creates the meals for the show since he's a former cook.










Then we went back to the Studio where I finally took a picture of the Istavrit store that burned 2 months ago shutting down the 'Bursa Ciçek Köfte' restaurant next door where I liked to eat.

It's also our last day today. Farewell everyone, I ate 5 different type of pasta today.
