Great Food

Abdul is in Town so we decided to try out this place in the Fatih district named Öz Kilis. They do different kind of kebabs and lahmacun (Turkish pizza). The food was excellent, delicious, very good. I won't describe what we had, just go there and eat it all, that's what we did.

Fish

Lunch at Baja

Baja opened q month ago in Cihangir. Really good place where you can find Tex-Mex food. The owner is the former cook of the Otto Santral Restaurant.

Piknik

I went to eat at Piknik on the Istiklal Street with Murat after a shooting at the Turkcell Headquarter.

Thanks to Abdul and Özlem for taking the time to see us during their stop in Istanbul coming from Thailand and going to Paris and no sleep at all.

Peter & Sarah

It was really cool to meet up with Peter and Sarah for their last night in Istanbul. Have Fun in India guys.

Cumhuriyet Meyhanesi

Tonight we went to the Cumhuriyet meyhanesi. "Cumhuriyet" means "Republic" and "Meyhane" is a kind of tavern, from the persian "mey" meaning "wine" and "hane" meaning "house". Usually it is a place where you eat meze and fish and where you drink the national alcool "Raki" (kind of like the Greek "Ouzo" or a stronger French "Pastis"). There was also a live band playing traditionnal Turkish music. There is always a very nice atmosphere, people will get up and dance along with the music.

By the way the Cumhuriyet Meyhanesi is one of the oldest meyhane in Istanbul and has an history of more than 110 years.

Bodrum Day 08

Last day at the beach. Last swim of the year. Playing with the cats on the beach.









At night we went to Bodrum earlier in order to eat there before riding the bus.
We ate at the Sünger Pizza place near the Bodrum Marina. Very nice place to eat pizzas or bouillabaisse.
Afterward if you want you can have a real Italian ice cream at La Sosta Marina, right next to Sünger restaurant.

Tonight we went to the restaurant with some friends from Europe and the U.S.

Arnavutköy

After spending much time at Ikea, We went to Arnavutköy to meet up with some good friends from France Michel and Vildan. The place we went to is called Abracadabra.

Umut Ocakbasi

After work I met with some friends and Ekin at this nice restaurant in Taksim called Umut Ocakbasi. Umut being the name (like Joe) and Ocakbasi (pronounce Odjak Bashi). It's a place where you usually eat grilled kebabs. They have a big barbecue inside on which you can eat shish kekap, Adana Kebab, etc.

Alaçati - Day 2

This is our hotel's entrance. It is a very nice place. It's called Ümit Ev Otel and the owners are very nice, kind and friendly, speaking a very good English.





































Everything on the table (except for the cheese) was homemade from the garden. Everything was delicious. Even the olive oil.






















Today we went to Babylon Beach. Babylon is a concert Hall in Istanbul, they also opened a place in alacati where they have live concerts during the summer on the beach.




we ate some 'midye' (mussels) from Pamuk Amca's son.












Tonight the famous Turkish band 'Mor ve Ötesi' is playing and they were rehearsing right behind us.

Ekin ate some kind of pickles from a street vendor.









Then we decided to eat at a restaurant called 'Lavanta', meaning 'lavender'.



























Thenwe met up with Sibel and her gang and went to a bar/club called Yaya.
