Road Street !

Here is an interesting street name. Yol sokak. "Sokak" means "street" and "Yol" means road... The actual funny thing is maybe taht 200 meters away, there is another Yol sokak (link here - there are apparently 6-7 Yol sokak in Istanbul)

1 street below (I don't have a photo, yet) is called Sürekli sokak, "sürekli" meaning "permanent" or "constant".

Cigarettes

The building we shot in is a high class residence/office in Levent called "Loft". I was surprised to see cigarettes butts everywhere in the concrete, I'm not sure it's a sign of goodconstruction work !

Tonight I saw this pretty funny kitchen kit for kids. You have everything you need to cook, even the beer opener !

Fire Extinguisher. It should be written Yangın meaning Fire but someone tear up the Y I guess, I hope. It was like that on all the floors of the building.

Street Names

The street we live is "S" shaped and it has(d) 4 names: Bostan Üstü Sokak (sokak : Street), Dere Sokak, Yeni Mahalle Sokak, Bostan Dere Sokak. Well, today I realized that they put a new street sign with a new name. So now we have : Yıldız Bostanı Sokak. Yeay.
I know, you're gonna say :"but your street is S shaped so there's a new name change at each corner. But : #1 : in the same street there are two signes with different names. #2 : the number are continuous and do not start over...

New Subway Station

Yesterday the new Şişhane Subway has opened. Well, kind of, the prime minister came, cut the ribbon and left but you couldn't ride it. It really opened to the public today. By chance our new office is near this new station so it's pretty cool. Check out the ribbons they put around. One every 20 meters ! Ridiculous. But the station and the new train are pretty cool.
Another section of the subway has opened, on the other end but is only active between 10 am and 4 pm with a train every 22 minutes which is pretty stupid since it goes to the business center which is pretty far and people going there go before 8 in the morning and come back after 6pm. The real reason is because they were late in opening this end of the line so ıt's just to show that it2s opened otherwise they're still doing the tests on it.

I saw that one today. Use the stairs to get to the door but the door is behind the wall. Pretty weird, isn't it ? You really have to see it in real to really understan the weirdness of this entrance.

My friend Daniel bought this in Eminönü and I thought it was pretty funny and kitsch. That's how the alarm wakes you up in the morning. A real nightmare. Especially the little echo at the end.
