Mothers' Day

We went to have breakfast with Ekin's parents and brother (etc) at some place outside Istanbul. Then we went to the Meydan Shopping center I told you about. Here are the pictures :

At Meydan, they put some sculpture made by the children of this association called Yaratici Cocuklar Dernegi (Creative Children's Association). They created this activity/exhibition about the effect of Global Warming on the ecosystem and endangered species.

I felt like being in New York (Actually in NYC I felt like being in Istanbul), I think I saw 18 helicopter today.









Meydan









They recently created this temporary organic food market on the stairs (right). I thought it was a great idea. They have people signing up petition to keep it open all year long (at least during the nice day).

















Then With Ekin's parents we went to this Mongolian Barbecue restaurant called Go Mongo. There are three of them in Istanbul.

Turkish Style

There is this high school under construction in our neighborhood. It looks nice but then I noticed the two small roofs on the main roof and wondered what they were there for. I took a look at the project picture and found out that there was a small error...

All jokes aside, The raw materials such as plaster and concrete used for this building are (supposed to be) environmentally friendly. They used the same material they did to build the brand new mall center 'Meydan' near Ikea in Umraniye.
For the first time in Turkey and still a fairly new concept in the rest of Europe, new heating technology is being used to create energy. This technology converts earth heat into energy that can be used for heating and cooling the shopping center. This environmentally friendly technology emits no harmful gas or waste. Even the roofs of the buildings have been designed as green spaces.

Teknosohbet Day 04

After having breakfast in Besiktas with Engin and Reyhan, I went to Meydan, a open air mall on the Asian side to do some questions asking about Sony (again!) in front of the Mediamarkt store.
I met with Timur there and spent about 2 hours there. I then met Ekin with her dad and we went to visit Ekin's brother's (Umut) new house (still under construction but almost done).
At night I decided to go to the office (at teknosohbet) to see how the editing was going since the deadline is tomorrow and we have a lot of footage. Murat is doing a great job since he's not an editor. They're looking for one by the way, If you know anyone.

Bimbo

Today I went To Ikea with Jake, we took a look at the new outlet (Meydan) adjoining it they recently finished and went into this new hypermarket (Real) in which we found this amazing cherry juice.
This new outlet is an open-air shopping center. The air-conditioning is provided by one of the largest geothermic units in Europe. The center is heated and cooled using mainly geothermic energy.
