Mustang Iacocca

I'm not really into cars but I really like the design of the Mustang. To celebrate its 45th anniversary , Mustang's new Iacocca version will hit the market soon. Only 45 will be made and they are already sold out. Very nice shooting, very nice car.

History of Communication

I really like this stop motion animation so I share it :

Exactly 10 years ago today, a very big earthquake struck Northwestern Turkey. There were officially 17,127 people killed and 43,959 injured, although more than 10,000 people were never found.
Reports show that 120,000 poorly engineered houses were damaged beyond repair. 600,000 people were left homeless after the earth quake.

Unfortunately, Turkey is a very centralized country and most of its industries are in this area, therefore a big population lives there. Oil refineries, several automotive plants, and the Turkish navy headquarters and arsenal in Gölcük.

This increased the severity of the loss of life and property.

Turkish soldiers were given 45 days leave to help rescue their relatives. Bodies were buried quickly in mass graves to stop any spread of disease.

My dad's family lives in Izmit and fortunately we did not lost anyone in the Earthquake. My cousin lost everything since their building was completely destroyed. He and his wife and son weren't home as they'd left the house 2 hours before the earthquake took place and were the only survivors of the 15 stories building.

Sahilköy Beach

Today, with some friends, we randomly drove to the Asian side of Istanbul and found ourselves up North in a village called Sahilköy (meaning literaly "Beach Village"). There wasn't much to do there, I walked a bit in the water and it was deliciously warm and soft. We stayed for 10 minutes and headed back to Istanbul.

Happy Birthday Ekin

Today is my darling's birthday ;)

Flood

Even though the expert from the insurance company told the guy not to start any renovation until agreed, the neighbors started anyway. Check out the damages caused by a bursting pipe at our place here.

Animation

I already posted about this animation project (here & here). Today we spent hours finishing it (we finished at 1.30 am) hoping the final result will be good as it is a project about creativity and entrepreneurship for Turkcell, the number one cellphone operator in Turkey. I'll try to post a preview of the result soon.

Today's Pictures

İstanbul Sapphire

This building called The Sapphire, is going to be the second tallest in Istanbul with 261 meters. I already took photos of this building. This one was taken from the Loft Residence in Levent.

Cigarettes

The building we shot in is a high class residence/office in Levent called "Loft". I was surprised to see cigarettes butts everywhere in the concrete, I'm not sure it's a sign of goodconstruction work !

Yunus

This morning for the shooting of a show about advertising we went to a company called Digitouch. The General Manager happens to be a friend from High School, Yunus Güvenen.

Animation

Today we started to shot a small animation project for Turkcell, part of a big project about creativity and entrepreneurship. It took a while to be able to start but it's a pretty fun project so no complaints. I'll try to post the result as soon as possible as the output I have is too big to post here.

No Internet

Everybody is going crazy at the office. The Internet has been pretty slow those last days but today it just went down. Not cool for an Internet Company.

Cameras

I've been trying out many cameras those past few weeks, for the show I host with my friend Burak on Şipşak.tv.

I really need to get my own camera now.
--
Quick review :

Olympus D-SLR E-30 : Pretty good.
Canon SX 1 IS : Very good but a battery eater. I had to buy four new batteries every 24 hours or so.
Canon Ixus 100 IS (USA : Powershot SD780 IS), pretty good for its size, does everything even 720p video shooting.
Canon Ixus 95 IS (USA : Powershot SD1200 IS): Standard Point&Shoot camera.
Samsung ST50 (USA : TL100): Not tested yet.
Canon SX 200 IS : Pretty strong compact camera with a 12x zoom and manual settings.
Ricoh R10 : minimalist and lots of customizable functions but image quality could have been better.

Why would they have different names fo different countries. It's not like they mean anything !

Kuroshio Sea

The second largest aquarium in the world is in Japan.
The main tank called the "Kuroshio Sea" holds 7,500-cubic meters (1,981,290 gallons) of water and features the world's second largest acrylic glass panel, measuring 8.2 meters by 22.5 meters with a thickness of 60 centimeters. Whale sharks and manta rays are kept amongst many other fish species in the main tank.
By the way, this was shot using a Canon 5D Mark II. I've been wanting this camera for a while now.

I'm Back Baby !!!

After many months of non justified posting I'm back.

I needed to get used to my iMac, to my new schedule and to some other stuff.

I guess I'm finally ready.
