Day Three : Last Day, Holiday
Last day, Today is May the 19th, holiday here in Turkey. Atatürk Commemoration and Youth & Sports Day (the arrival of Atatürk in Samsun, and the beginning of the War of Independence).
This morning the sky is clearer and a lot of seagulls are flying over the water which is unusual here.

Ekin got stung by some insects, probably mosquitoes, or even rowanberries (we have plenty here), a spider byte is not to exclude as well. She tried my mom's new Venimex machine which comes out unhandy in mosquito situations.

My parents' cat enjoying his summer life, he spends 6 months there during the summer.

One last look at the house before leaving.

Goodbye Gümüşlük...

Day Two : Sea, Insects and Sun
Again, a nice view over the Greek islands this morning after a night fighting with mosquitoes.

The mountains you see in the far back are on the Kalimnos Island, part of the Dodecanese.

Back to Gümüşlük again where we swam again.

Here you can find the best köfte sandwiches in all Turkey. It's a small business ran by two brothers installed in a tea garden. They really are delicious.

This is behind our house. Even though Gümüşlük is protected against developments and has not been over exposed like cities as Kuşadasi, The peninsula suffers from growing construction sites. The only rules are that you cannot built a house more than 2 stories, it has to be white (or so), the windows sizes are specific etc. Also there are a lots of historical sites where constructions are forbidden, but for how long.

Nice sunset from the house.

Followed by a nice home made barbecue with some nice lamb ribs.

Day One : Garden Party
After a good night of sleep we wake up to enjoy this beautiful landscape from our room. We don't actually stay in Bodrum, the city, but Bodrum the peninsula. The place we're staying at is called Gümüşlük and is unpronounceable by many foreigners. Well it helps if you have French or German knowledge, you read the 'u' as French 'u' or as German 'ü' and try Gumushluk.

I started my morning by a our of the garden. I saw this interesting Pomegranate with what looks like fruits but they're actually flowers. Our tree apparently does not produce any fruits.
here are the steps as the flower blooms.

Another landscape view from the garden.
