A Normal Day

Here are two photos of the Istiklal Street, in Taksim, probably the most important street in Istanbul. It's the meeting point of millions of people, where all the restaurants are , all the bars, all the girls, all the boys, all the tourists, all the Turkish, all the riches, all the poor, all the consulates, This is the heart of Istanbul.

In frotn of the French Consulate

Some cats feeding in our street. I see about 15 to 20 cats in our street each day.

Asli invited us for dinner tonight with some old friends I hadn't seen in a long time.
Special Spaghetti alla bolognese alla Asli.

Today's Pictures

Today was a hot day (27°C - 81°F) so everybody was out.

I found out that Starbucks (I know...) made cinnamon rolls, I LOVE CINNAMON ROLLS, so I decided to try one. It was the worst cinnamon roll I ever ate. If you ever pass by a cinnabon store please bring me one back.

Let it snow

Work day today. As I went to the office to get the camera, guess what I saw. Our first snow flakes. Well very small yes, but snow. I really didn't it would hold but it did.

Today we went to the Maslak Dogus Power Center Otomotion (what a name). A new mall with a fake cultural center inside with a car show. There's actually an exhibition about Einstein right (ending march, 2nd) highlighting his biography as well as his major scientific breakthrough, the history of relativity and quantum theories. It explores his legacy not only as a scientific genius but also as a complex man engaged in the social and political issues of his period (wow).

We went there to interview the number 1 Turkish pop singer Tarkan (official site here).
I will pay $2.000 the person who can get rid of my my double chin.

As we came out we realized that it had snowed more. Well there wasn't much snow where I took this picture (Fulya) but the other districts were whiter (Maslak, Levent, Etiler, Asian side).

So be careful out there.

Oreo day

After having had breakfast with my dad we went on the Istiklal to get the last Christmas presents we needed to get. Crowded Istiklal on a Sunday, as usual, despite the cold and rainy weather.

On the way back home we finally took the kitten and named him Oreo. He's very cute but afraid of us, especially me. Let's hope he'll get used to us quickly.
