Stuck in Traffic Under the Rain

It took me 1 hour to go from Nişantaşı to Taksim. By foot it would have taken me 15 minutes. When it rains in Istanbul, the traffic sucks immediately. I just enjoyed the music on the radio.
Elections are coming soon, ergo all the flags.
On the photos you can see the intensity of the rain increasing.

10.11.2008 - 9.05 a.m.

Today is the 70st anniversary of Atatürk's death. At 9.05 a.m. each year, during the minute of silence, sirens sound all over the country and people would stop. It's very interesting to witness the traffic stop and people get out of their car to stand up; people stop walking in the streets. All the flags are half mast.

Flag Day

Today is a National Holiday in Turkey, it is the Turkish 4th of July. In 1923 the (secular) Republic of Turkey was finally established. And as a good citizen you should put your flag at your window. If you are a real nationalist you'll put it in you car as well.
By law, Shops must put a flag on this day.
